What makes our board book ideal for young children?
Our board books are designed with safety in mind and specifically made for children ages five and under. We use safe, eco-friendly ink for exploring babies that love to put things in their mouth and round the corners of all our board books to eliminate harmful edges. In addition to being safe, our board books are also very durable. Children can toss our board books, bend them, or drop them without causing severe damage. Our board books are also sturdy and perfect to hold in little hands with no risk of tearing so any child can easily flip through the pages.
Our durable pages are easy to clean & disinfect
Our bedtime board book is water resistant making it easy to clean inside and out! You can use a disinfecting towelette or damp cloth to easily wipe down each page in our board book without worrying about damaging it! With Covid-19 still prevalent across the United States, you can feel safe knowing that you can easily disinfect our board book for your child.
Written for early childhood development
Our bedtime board book, It’s Time for Bed Sweet Child of Mine, is written with early child development in mind. It focuses on tempo, rhythm, and rhyming to increase readability and help lay the foundations for early language and cognitive development. Unique, rhyming word-play aids the development of crucial muscles involved in speech, while memorization practice encourages stimulation of the brain power needed at higher reading levels.
The importance of nursery rhymes
Nursery rhymes play a pivotal part in helping children develop an ear for language and encourage literacy development. When children hear nursery rhymes it helps them become aware of the sounds that vowels and consonants make. The reciting and learning of these nursery rhymes helps children gain a sensitivity to the sound structure of language and contributes to their phonemic awareness. By naturally acquiring sound sensitivity to vowels and consonants, language structure is intuitively understood by children and fosters the foundation for their ability to read independently.
Optimized for children with color deficiency
Dark outlined shapes
We use a black outline to define our shapes for characters and backgrounds. This helps children with visual impairments distinguish the characters from the background and other objects.
We use high contrast between foreground and background for the text for optimal readability.
We also use a variety of vibrant colors to make the visuals engaging for young children!
Color blindness comparison
This example of our cover shows the usage of color and contrast to make our book accessible for children with different types of color blindness. This example shows monochromacy, protanopia and deuteranopia.
Dedicated to being inclusive
At Wunderstar Kids we are committed to being inclusive in a multitude of ways. We use many techniques to optimize our books for color blind children so the reading experience is inclusive for different types of eyesight. Our books are also gender inclusive featuring gender neutral main characters and characters that are both male and female. We believe it’s important for children of all genders to be able to connect with our books. Whether your child identifies as a boy, a girl, or gender neutral, we want them to see themselves in our stories and be able to identify with our books.
This book is such a wonderful addition to my son’s library!! All the pages are so colorful. My 2.5 year old son is very talkative and loves to learn new words all the time. This book has so many new yet simple words that he is already picking up. Also the colors and characters on every page are so fresh that I am able to have longer conversations with my son and keep on adding to his vocabulary. We are loving this book a lot!!

As both a literacy specialist and a grandmother, I am delighted with this wonderful book! The whimsical rhyming fosters a skill that is crucial for literacy development in young children. I appreciate the book’s durability and especially the thought that went into making the book accessible for children with visual impairments. But best of all, my two-year-old granddaughter loves it!
This book is fantastic! It uses rhyme and fun pictures to captivate the little ones. My kids have now requested this to be read upwards of 20 times!! Great book.
